(ANTARA) - Laboratory testing service provider, Alvalab, has launched a high-accuracy food expiration and nutrient content testing device, reaching 99.5 percent accuracy, with results that can be obtained quickly, thereby assisting businesses aiming for export and import.

Head of Sales and Marketing at Alvalab, Jonathan A. Widakdo, in Tangerang on Wednesday said that the device, named Climatic Chamber ASLT (Accelerated Shelf Life Testing), is significant because food and beverage manufacturers no longer need to wait months or years to determine the product's expiration, stability, as well as its nutritional and microbiological content. "We imported this device directly from Europe. It looks like a single-door refrigerator, but it is equipped with a monitoring system for temperature, humidity, and light, which can be adjusted to simulate storage conditions for various types of products," Jonathan A. Widakdo said, met at ICE BSD Tangerang on Tuesday.

Jonathan explained that the testing process is carried out by placing product samples into the equipment for a minimum period of 30 days up to a maximum of 60 days, depending on the type of product. The test results come in the form of a comprehensive report that includes shelf life, changes in physical properties and taste, as well as potential microbiological exposure. "For example, when a company launches a candy product with a new flavor variant, before obtaining marketing authorization from the Food and Drug Monitoring Agency (BPOM), the product must be tested by an independent institution such as Alvalab. We provide an objective analysis of the product's strengths and weaknesses before it is submitted to the relevant authorities, which can be validated with an analytical certificate, commonly called a CoA," he explained.

Furthermore, Jonathan stated that the test results from Alvalab have been widely recognized by various industry players, especially for companies targeting exports. “Many export products attach laboratory test certificates from us because the accuracy level is very high and has met international standards. Our laboratory is ISO 17025 accredited and recognized by the National Accreditation Committee (KAN) and BPOM,” he explained.

To expand service reach, Alvalab provides a drop point system and sample delivery from four major cities, namely Jakarta, Surabaya, Lampung, and Pontianak. Business players only need to send products through courier services along with supporting documents such as Tax Identification Number (NPWP), Business Identification Number (NIB), and Taxable Entrepreneur Confirmation Letter (SPPKP).

"After registration, we will provide a special account access with a username and password so that clients can monitor all stages of testing in real time, from sample receipt to the issuance of analysis results," said Jonathan. In addition to testing services, Alvalab also offers free consultation for business actors, especially MSMEs, to help them understand the product quality standards that apply domestically and in the global market. "We want to encourage more Indonesian products to meet export requirements with affordable laboratory test prices, ranging from IDR 100 thousand to millions of rupiah, depending on the complexity of the type of testing," he said.

Not only focusing on food products, Alvalab also provides testing for agricultural products, spices, essential oils, imported food and beverages, ensuring that every product distributed meets the applicable safety and quality standards.
